The Daily Mirror newspaper reported on Friday, citing military sources, that the Duke of Sussex would join around 1,000 British Royal Marines and some 3,000 Norwegian Marines for the war games, which are taking place over 12 weeks, to send a message to Russia.
Relations between Moscow and London significantly deteriorated in March over the attempted poisoning of Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. The United Kingdom accused Moscow of being involved in the attack and urged the West to express solidarity, which resulted in expulsion of Russian diplomats from the majority of Western countries and a new round of anti-Moscow sanctions. Moscow has repeatedly refuted the allegations, stressing that no evidence of its "involvement" has ever been provided.
