Russia Registers 5 Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side to the Russian-Turkish commission on Syrian reconciliation has recorded five ceasefire violations in the Arab republic over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side registered eight breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th January, 2019) The Russian side to the Russian-Turkish commission on Syrian reconciliation has recorded five ceasefire violations in the Arab republic over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side registered eight breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 5 cases of firing in the provinces of Latakia (2) and Aleppo (3). The Turkish side has registered 8 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Idlib (2), Hama (3) and Latakia (3)," the ministry said in a daily bulletin, adding that no humanitarian actions had been held over the period.

The number of areas, which signed reconciliation agreements in Syria, stands at 2,518. The number of armed formations that have pledged to observe the ceasefire also remained unchanged 234.

Russia, alongside Iran and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus both through supporting the struggle against the terrorist groups and by providing humanitarian aid to the residents of the crisis-torn country.
