Militants Attacked 2 Provinces In Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd January, 2019) Over the past 24 hours, violations of the ceasefire regime by armed groups have been registered in the Syrian provinces of Aleppo and Latakia, the Russian Defense Ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation said on Wednesday.

"Despite the ceasefire regime being established throughout the country, there are still cases of ceasefire regime violation by illegal armed formations. Over the past day militants have attacked Zahabiya in Aleppo province and Rasha in Latakia province in the Idlib de-escalation zone," the center said.

No humanitarian operations have been carried out by the center's servicemen over the past 24 hours, the center added.

The work of 10 checkpoints intended for refugees' return was facilitated by the Russian reconciliation center for Syria over the given period, with a total of 213,838 refugees having returned to Syria as of Tuesday, January 1.

The center added that it continued to assist Syria in infrastructure rehabilitation, with nearly 31,000 residential buildings, 718 educational and 126 medical facilities having been reconstructed with the support of Russian servicemen as of January 1.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and terrorist organizations. Russia along with Turkey and Iran are guarantors of the ceasefire regime in Syria.
