Lahore faces power outages as over 350 feeders trip

The citizens of Lahore are facing difficulties due to suspension of electricity.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 2nd January, 2019) Power supply has been suspended in various areas of Lahore as over 350 feeders tripped on Wednesday.

The provincial capital is facing a power outage for several hours.

The citizens of Lahore are facing difficulties due to suspension of electricity.

The areas facing power outage include Fatehgarh, Ghaziabad, Kot Lakhpat, Johar Town, Faisal Town, DHA and other areas.

According to LESCO officials, the production of electricity has been reduced due to fog. The production capacity of Guddu, Bhakkar and Balloki power plants has significantly decreased, causing an electricity breakdown in Lahore.

Officials said that the production system has been affected due to lack of supply of RLNG and closing of canals.

The LESCO’s delivery system is however operational but the company needs 2000 MW of electricity to fulfill the demand. LESCO is doing load management due to the supply of just 1000 MW.

A shortfall of 3000 MW was created after Balloki, Nishat and Chunian power plants were closed due to fog.

LESCO officials said that the engineers are working to restore electricity.

Media reports further said that the electricity shortfall has crossed 4000 MW in the country.

The LESCO requires a supply of 2200 MW against 1400 MW current supply.

In view of this, a load shedding plan has also been issued for Lahore.
