Man reaches Supreme Court by foot to donate in dams fund

Ikhlaq Ahmad presented a cheque of Rs 7 lac and gave Rs 63,000 in cash.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 1st January, 2019) A citizen reached Supreme Court by foot to submit his donation in the dams fund.

According to details, the man kept walking on foot for six consecutive days to reach Supreme Court and meet Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.

Ikhlaq Ahmad presented a cheque of Rs 7 lac and gave Rs 63,000 in cash.

The fund set up to raise money for constructing Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams has reached to Rs 9 billion mark.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, who took the initiative of fund collection, launched the fund on July 6 which was later joined by Prime Minister Imran Khan, making it joint venture to overcome the country's water scarcity.

Within Pakistan, the contributions were made through cheques, cash and mobile phone message service. An amount of Rs 125 million was received through the SMS services of the four cellular companies operating in Pakistan.
