Russia Registers 10 Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has recorded a total of 10 ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered 18 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st January, 2019) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has recorded a total of 10 ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered 18 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 10 cases of firing in the provinces of Idlib (3), Latakia (1), Hama (5), Aleppo (1). The Turkish side has registered 18 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Idlib (11), Hama (7)," the ministry said in its daily bulletin.

Over the given period, the ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation has not held any humanitarian operations.

The number of areas that signed reconciliation agreements has remained the same and currently amounts to 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming that they observe the ceasefire stands at 234.

Apart from being one of the guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria, Russia has been also assisting Damascus in the post-war reconstruction and the return of tens of thousands of refugees. The Russian military has been carrying out regular humanitarian actions across the country.
