Russia Registers 48 Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has recorded a total of 48 ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered 15 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 31st December, 2018) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has recorded a total of 48 ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered 15 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

"Over the past 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 48 cases of firing in the provinces of Idlib 11, Latakia 21, Hama 7, Aleppo 9. The Turkish side has registered 15 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Idlib 3, Hama 5, Latakia 5, Aleppo 2," the ministry said in its daily bulletin.

Over the given period, the ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation carried out one humanitarian action in the province of Deraa, distributing 500 food sets among residents of the town of Tafas.

The number of areas that signed reconciliation agreements has remained the same and currently amounts to 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming that they observe the ceasefire stands at 234.

Apart from being one of the guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria, Russia has been also assisting Damascus in the post-war reconstruction and the return of tens of thousands of refugees. The Russian military has been carrying out regular humanitarian actions across the country.
