Serbian Leader Says Hopes To Discuss Situation In Kosovo During Putin's Visit To Belgrade

BELGRADE (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th December, 2018) Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that he expected the situation in Kosovo and Metohija to become the main topic of conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the latter's visit to Belgrade on January 17.

The tensions between Kosovo and Serbia have recently escalated due to the self-proclaimed republic's decision to create a national army.

"The first issue is Kosovo and our bilateral relations, relations in the region and worldwide. I expect Putin to tell what he thinks about the developments in the world, in Ukraine, in Syria, what he thinks about relations with great powers," the Serbian president told Serbian Studio B tv channel.

The Serbian leader added that he expected the signing of over 20 agreements during Putin's upcoming visit and revealed plans to discuss with Putin further Russian gas deliveries to his country.

"I will not pay doubly for liquefied [natural] gas just to please someone in the West. I will pay for cheap gas so that [Serbian] people are able to live and the industry can develop. It is not my money, it is citizens' money, the state's money," Vucic said.

The Serbian leader also revealed plans to discuss with Putin the continuation of the Russian Railways' projects in Serbia and the Russian participation in Serbia's IT field.
