Russian Foreign Ministry Thanks BBC For Documentary On Diplomatic Compound In Maryland

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th December, 2018) The Russian Foreign Ministry has thanked the BBC for shooting a truthful documentary about its diplomatic compound in the US state of Mayland, which has been shut for two years.

The previous US administration seized the riverfront retreat in December 2016, calling it a "spy nest." It also closed another property in New York and expelled 35 Russian diplomats over alleged election meddling.

"The BBC's Russian Service aired a story about the Russian property in the US state of Maryland yesterday... We thank the journalists for the work they did. This docu again proves that no spying was going on there. This is evidenced by neighbors talking about their experience of communicating with the embassy staff - from ambassadors to technicians - and repeated attempts by the FBI to find any dirt," the ministry said on Facebook.

The administration of President Donald Trump has since shut three more Russian diplomatic properties in the country, including a consulate in San Francisco and two assets in Washington and New York. Russia has repeatedly denied interfering in the 2016 election, calling the US allegations absurd.
