Mexico's Interjet Ready To Buy 8 Modernized SSJ100 Jets - Manufacturer

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) The Mexican Interjet airline is going to purchase eight new Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) planes, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company President Alexander Rubtsov told reporters on Friday.

"We have reached a principal agreement, we must completely solve the issue related to power units," Rubtsov said.

He pointed out that the company would supply Interjet with modernized jets equipped with wingtip devices.

"There is hoping that the issue will have been finally resolved until the end of the year. The parties' positions have become closer," Rubtsov added.

The SSJ100 is a twin-engine plane made by Russia's Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company. It can transport up to 98 passengers and fly distances of up to 2,730 miles. The jet made its maiden flight in May 2008.

Interjet, which already has 22 SSJ100 aircraft, is one of the largest operators of these aircraft.
