A sustainable ceasefire is to become the first issue that the Afghan government intends to bring up with the Taliban once the movement confirms readiness for a direct dialogue, Ihsan Taheri, a spokesman for the Afghan High Peace Council, told Sputnik.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) A sustainable ceasefire is to become the first issue that the Afghan government intends to bring up with the Taliban once the movement confirms readiness for a direct dialogue, Ihsan Taheri, a spokesman for the Afghan High Peace Council, told Sputnik.
"After the announcement by the Taliban that they are ready for the direct talks between the government and themselves, the first step, of course, will be discussions on the ceasefire, sustainable and continuous ceasefire," Taheri said.
The official also said that Kabul was currently not discussing inclusion of Taliban representatives in the new unity government.
"That discussion is not at the moment on the agenda," the official said answering the question of whether Kabul was considering Taliban's joining the cabinet.
