Russia Registered 8 Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered eight truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded three ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th December, 2018) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered eight truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded three ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"[Over the last 24 hours] the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered eight cases of firing in the provinces of Idlib (1), Hama (2), Latakia (4) and Aleppo (1). The Turkish side has registered three cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Aleppo (2), Hama (1)," the ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation said in its daily bulletin.

The reconciliation center has held a humanitarian action in the settlement of Zamalka in the province of Damascus having distributed 500 food sets with a total weight of 2.16 tonnes, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The ministry added that no new ceasefire agreements had been signed within last 24 hours. Thus, the number of settlements that have joined the ceasefire regime remained unchanged, amounting to 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming to observe the ceasefire regime is 234.

Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is the guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow is also supporting the government forces' fight against terrorist groups and providing humanitarian aid to civilians.
