UN Under-Secretary-General Informed About Russia's Humanitarian Efforts in Syria -Ministry

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin informed UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock about Russia's humanitarian efforts in Syria, the Defense Ministry said Monday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th December, 2018) Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin informed UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock about Russia's humanitarian efforts in Syria, the Defense Ministry said Monday.

"On December 17, 2018, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. A.V. Fomin and UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs M.Lowcock held consultations in Moscow. The UN representative was informed about efforts being made by the Russian Defense Ministry to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians in need in Syria, as well as to create conditions for the return of refugees to places of pre-war residence," it said.

"We drew the attention of the UN under-secretary-general to the critical situation in the humanitarian sphere in certain regions of Syria, especially in the Rukban refugee camp and in the city of Rakka," the ministry said.
