Riyadh Welcomes Arrangements Between Sides to Yemeni Conflict - Foreign Ministry

Saudi Arabia welcomes the latest arrangements between the conflicting sides to Yemeni conflict reached in Sweden regarding the withdrawal of Houthi militants and government troops from the Yemeni port city of Al Hudaydah and transferring the city under the UN control, a spokesperson for the Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

DOHA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th December, 2018) Saudi Arabia welcomes the latest arrangements between the conflicting sides to Yemeni conflict reached in Sweden regarding the withdrawal of Houthi militants and government troops from the Yemeni port city of Al Hudaydah and transferring the city under the UN control, a spokesperson for the Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

"Saudi Arabia welcomes the agreements reached in Sweden on Yemen and notes the great role the legitimate government of Yemen in this achievement ... the kingdom seeks to reach a peace agreement in Yemen, which includes the establishment of peace, security and stability in the country," the spokesperson said.

According to the Saudi diplomat, the agreement of Al Hudaydah will improve the condition for residents of the city.

The one-week UN-mediated talks on Yemen crisis settlement finished on Thursday. The sides agreed on a governorate-wide ceasefire and withdrawal of forces in Al Hudaydah, the establishment of a UN-chaired committee to monitor the process, a prisoner exchange, and humanitarian corridors to the city of Taiz.
