US Misleads Turkey by Denying Arms Supplies to YPG - Erdogan

Washington misleads Ankara by claiming that it does not supply weapons to the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday.

ANKARA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th December, 2018) Washington misleads Ankara by claiming that it does not supply weapons to the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday.

Ankara regards YPG as an affiliate of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), outlawed in Turkey.

"Arms supplies to Syria continue. Who sends them? Our strategic partner. They [US] says: no, we do not supply anything. But we have intelligence, we have pictures of these shipments. The weapons that we seized from the members of the PKK prove it. We were promised that YPG will leave the east of the Euphrates. But we see that the number of trucks with weapons sent to them exceeded 20,000. In addition, the US has now started to train 30,000 terrorists," Erdogan said.

He added that Turkey offered the United States to conduct joint operations in Syria.

"Why are you not acting together with us, but with them? Aren't we partners in NATO? Let's work together," Erdogan said.

Despite all the Turkish-US agreements, the United States did not fulfill its promises to implement the road map on Manbij, but Ankara hoped this promise would be fulfilled, the Turkish president stressed.

US-Turkish relations have suffered a setback amid Ankara's concerns over US support for the YPG. Ankara has also repeatedly accused Washington of failing to fulfill its promises regarding the withdrawal of the YPG from Syria's Manbij.
