May Says Made Some Progress on Brexit Deal With EU Colleagues, But Further Talks Needed

UK Prime Minister Theresa May said Wednesday she had made some progress in her talks on Brexit deal with her European colleagues, but further discussions were still needed.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th December, 2018) UK Prime Minister Theresa May said Wednesday she had made some progress in her talks on Brexit deal with her European colleagues, but further discussions were still needed.

On Monday, May said she was postponing the parliament vote on Brexit deal amid lawmakers' concerns over the Irish border backstop. On Tuesday, the prime minister met with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, and President of the European Council Donald Tusk.

"I had discussions with a number of people yesterday and I have made some progress, but, of course, there is an EU Council meeting, there are further discussions to be held," May told the House of Commons.
