Armenian Investigative Committee Notified About Over 50 Irregularities In Snap Election

YEREVAN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th December, 2018) Armenia's Investigative Committee has received over 50 notifications about irregularities during Sunday's snap parliamentary election in the country, Naira Harutyunyan, the head of the committee's department of information and public relations, said on Monday.

"As of midnight local time [20:00 GMT on Sunday], the Investigative Committee received 51 notifications of violations containing elements of crime," Harutyunyan wrote on her Facebook page.

According to Harutyunyan, 47 complaints dealt with an attempted repeat vote, three others - with breaches of the secrecy of the ballot, with the case of preventing a voter from expressing his will having been registered as well.

On Sunday, an early parliamentary election was held in Armenia for the first time in the country's history. Two political blocs and nine parties were taking part in the vote. There is no turnout threshold, however, to enter the parliament, a party must secure more than 5 percent of the vote and alliances must get over 7 percent. At the same time, according to the law, at least three political forces must be represented in parliament.

According to the Armenian Central Election Commission, three parties � Armenia's acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's My Step Alliance, the Prosperous Armenia party and the Bright Armenia party � will receive seats in the country's parliament.
