BEIJING (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th December, 2018) The Chinese Foreign Ministry summoned on Sunday US Ambassador to Beijing Terry Branstad to express protest over the Canadian authorities detaining Huawei financial director Meng Wanzhou under the extradition agreement with the United States, the ministry said in a statement.
Meng was arrested on December 1 in Vancouver to be handed over to the United States where she is suspected of committing fraud to bypass US sanctions on Iran.
"Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Le Yuchen summoned urgently on Sunday US Ambassador to China Terry Branstad to make a submission and express strong protest over a Huawei official being detained in Vancouver while transferring," the statement said.
