Japanese Foreign Ministry Says Working to Arrange Abe's Visit to Russia in Late January

The dates for the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Russia have not been set yet, but the Foreign Ministry is working to arrange the trip for the second half of January, a spokesman for the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Russian Division told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th December, 2018) The dates for the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Russia have not been set yet, but the Foreign Ministry is working to arrange the trip for the second half of January, a spokesman for the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Russian Division told Sputnik.

The Kyodo news agency has previously reported, citing sources, that the visit would take place in late January. Earlier in the day, the Mainichi newspaper reported, citing government sources, that Abe was expected to attend an annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, set to take place on January 22 in Switzerland, heading to Russia afterwards.

"[Dates for the visit have] not been firmly determined yet, but we are working to arrange it for the second half of January next year," the spokesman said.
