Athens Calls 11th Russian-Greek Intergovernmental Commission Meeting Successful

ATHENS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th December, 2018) George Katrougkalos, the Greek alternate minister for foreign affairs, called the 11th session of the Russian-Greek intergovernmental commission on economic, industrial and science and technology cooperation very successful.

The meeting was held in Moscow on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the visit to Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to Russia, planned for Friday. Katrougkalos co-chairs the commission form the Greek side while Transport Minister Evgeny Ditrich is the co-chair from the Russian side.

"I would like to reaffirm that the session of the joint intergovernmental commission was very successful. I would also like to thank the co-chair of the commission, minister Ditrich, for his very effective management of the commission's work," Katrougkalos said.

The diplomat noted that the commission discussed not only economy but also covered the topics that unite people, namely culture, sport and education.

Katrougkalos said he expected Russian-Greek relations to further improve.

This year marks the 190th anniversary of the establishment of Greek-Russian diplomatic ties.
