DAMASCUS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd December, 2018) The US-led coalition against the Islamic State terror group (IS, banned in Russia) launched several missiles at the positions of the Syrian Arab Army to the south of the city of Al-Sukhnah on Sunday, local media reported, citing a Syrian military source.

"Forces of the US-led coalition fired several missiles toward the positions of our units in the area of Al-Ghurab mount, to the south of the city of Al-Sukhnah at around 8:00 p.m. [18:00 GMT]," the source told the Al-Ikhbariya television channel.

He added that the attack had caused only material damage.

The US-led coalition of more than 70 countries is conducting military operations against IS in Syria and Iraq. The coalition's operations in Iraq are conducted in cooperation with the Iraqi government, but those in Syria are not authorized by the government of President Bashar Assad or the UN Security Council.
