Trump Discusses Second Summit With Kim During Meeting With Moon At G20 - White House

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st December, 2018) US President Donald Trump met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in to discuss the latest development on the Korean peninsula as well as Trump's plans to hold a second summit with North Korean chairman Kim Jong Un, the White House said in a press release after their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit.

"President Trump discussed his intention to have a second US-DPRK summit," the release said on Friday. "President Trump and President Moon restated their commitment to closely coordinate on next steps."

The two leaders remain committed to achieving the full and verifiable denuclearization of North Korea and maintaining sanctions on Pyongyang until it gives up the nuclear weapons program, the release added.

Trump met Kim for the first official summit on June 12 in Singapore. During the meeting, the two sides reached an agreement stipulating that North Korea would make efforts toward the promotion of complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula in exchange for security guarantees for Pyongyang.

Trump said during a press conference earlier in November that he can meet with the North Korean leader "sometime early next year."
