Three al-Shabab terrorists were killed in a US airstrike in Somalia as part of a government-backed operation to degrade the Islamist militant group, the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) said in a press release on Wednesday.
WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th November, 2018) Three al-Shabab terrorists were killed in a US airstrike in Somalia as part of a government-backed operation to degrade the Islamist militant group, the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) said in a press release on Wednesday."To support the Federal Government of Somalia's efforts to degrade al-Shabaab, US forces conducted an airstrike targeting al-Shabaab militants in the vicinity of Quy Cad near Debatscile, Somalia on November 27, 2018," the release said. "We currently assess this airstrike killed three (3) militants."
The US military said no civilians were killed or injured in the airstrike.
Al-Shabab, which has sworn allegiance to the Al-Qaeda terrorist group (banned in Russia), emerged in Somalia in 2006 and has been responsible for numerous terror attacks throughout the region. They are known for enforcing a radical version of Sharia law in territories under their control.
