Sidhu arrives in Pakistan for groundbreaking of Kartarpur border corridor

The Indian delegation, led by Sidhu, reached Lahore via Wagah Border on Tuesday.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 24th November, 2018) Former Indian cricketer and Punjab Cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has arrived in Pakistan to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur border corridor.

The Indian delegation, led by Sidhu, reached Lahore via Wagah Border on Tuesday.

The Sikh pilgrims present in the country will also attend the ceremony.

While accepting Pakistan’s invite to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur border corridor, Sidhu had earlier said that he is all set to visit Pakistan again, adding that it would be a great honour for him to be a part of history, a private news channel reported.

On Thursday, in a significant decision, Narendra Modi-led government cleared a proposal to develop a corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district to the International Border to facilitate Indian pilgrims to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur in Pakistan.

The issue of Kartarpur Sahib came into focus after Sidhu visited Pakistan in August to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Khan as prime minister of that country. After his return, the cricketer-turned-politician had said that Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa assured him that Pakistan may open a corridor to Kartarpur Sahib.
