JKCHS Management Committee Members Resign In Protest Against Secretary

Eight members of recently elected Management Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Housing Society (JKCHS) presented their resignations to Registrar Cooperative Housing Society in the federal capital on Tuesday

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News - 27th Nov, 2018 ) Eight members of recently elected Management Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Housing Society (JKCHS) presented their resignations to Registrar Cooperative Housing Society in the federal capital on Tuesday. Much to the joy of the Society members, new Management Committee, comprising of ‘highly educated’ office-bearers, took charge after winning elections on July 15, 2018 However, things did not go well as previous management started putting hurdles to the newly elected Management Committee.

Things turned further worse when newly elected Chairman Brigadier (r) Nusrat Ullah and Secretary Muhammad Khaqan started working beyond their powers. Taking stock of the situation, eight members given show cause notice to Secretary intimated the authorities concerned. Later, it emerged that Secretary tried to cause a damage of Rs 5 Million to the Society by allotting a plot to one of the members of the Society neglecting the approved layout plan by CDA.

Apart from that, there are a lot of cases of illegal possessions on the land of JKCHS during last few months and Chairman and Secretary never bothered to take any legal action against them. A security company has been hired without fulfilling legal formalities and any proper agreement which cost JKCHS about Rs 2 Million per month. When the members of Management Committee moved application against Secretary for his suspension, the very next day Secretary came along with 60-80 people and threatened Management Committee members.

Chairman Brig (r) Nusrat Ullah, who was fully supporting Secretary and his actions, was arrested by NAB in Diplomatic Shuttle Service Corruption Case. Secretary misused his position and access to the official record. He threatened the members of cancelling their allotment letters and denying them the transfers of plots. He also misused his position and has been spreading chaos and negative rumors about different projects so as to manipulate their rates in interests of some of specific property dealers.

Majority of the MC members tried their level best to resolve the matter through dialogue in MC meetings but the secretary showed a very stubborn attitude and was rude to fellow colleagues. His perpetual negative attitude was damaging the members/society's interest. The MC members requested the Circle Registrar and Registrar Cooperative Societies ICT Islamabad many a times but due to the vested interests of corrupt mafia no action was taken against him in spite of a resolution by majority of the MC members. The only way to stop this negativity and to take on the corrupt mafia was to resign and dissolve the MC so new elections are scheduled.
