Ukrainian ships readied artillery guns and aimed them at Russian ships during the Kerch Strait incident, , the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said Monday in a statement.

"At 8.35 am, the ships of the Ukrainian Navy were brought to combat readiness. Artillery installations were uncovered, artillery barrels were raised at an angle of 45 degrees and directed toward the ships and boats of the Russian Federation (in violation of Article 19 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea)," the statement reads.
"The Russian side informed the ships of the Ukrainian Navy that the threat to use weapons in the territorial sea of the Russian Federation will be regarded as a violation of international law and the legislation of the Russian Federation," the FSB added.
