Lahore (Point News – 26th November, 2018) The homeless people have been sending prayers to Prime Minister Imran Khan after he announced installing tents in Lahore to accommodate the homeless people until the proper Panah Gahs (shelters) are constructed.

A person said that he used to sleep at the shrine but may Allah bless Imran Khan who thought of the poor and installed tents for them.

Another person said that nobody has ever or will do what Prime Minister Imran Khan is doing.

One more man said that he has been sleeping on the footpath for 15 years; however, he has now found a clean place to sleep. He said that he is feeling very good.

Other people forced to stay in parks, shrines and footpaths are also giving prayers to the prime minister.

The Punjab government on Saturday started installation of tents in Lahore to accommodate the homeless people until the proper Panah Gahs (shelters) are constructed.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had asked the Punjab government to set up tents for people sleeping on footpaths and provided them food until the shelters were built as the weather was turning increasingly cold.

In a later tweet, the prime minister said that the tents were being setup in Lahore as temporary shelters for the homeless sleeping on the footpaths of the provincial capital.

He also shared the images showing packs of new quilts, bedspreads and pillows placed inside the tents yet being erected by the workers.

Another image also showed the homeless people enjoying food served to them in the temporary shelter.

On November 10, he had broken ground for construction of Panah Gahs in Lahore to provide roof to those who spend their nights out in the open. The government had identified five spots in Lahore for construction of shelters what the prime minister said would be turned into centers of excellence.

He said the spots for construction of shelters for down and out people were also being located in Peshawar and Karachi.
