UK's Integrity Initiative Undermines Russian-Western Dialogue - Senior Russian Lawmaker Andrey Klishas

The policy of active information counteraction against Russia, which the United Kingdom and a number of other states pursue, undermines the possibility of a constructive and successful Russian-Western dialogue, a senior Russian lawmaker told Sputnik on Saturday, commenting on reports on the Integrity Initiative project.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th November, 2018) The policy of active information counteraction against Russia, which the United Kingdom and a number of other states pursue, undermines the possibility of a constructive and successful Russian-Western dialogue, a senior Russian lawmaker told Sputnik on Saturday, commenting on reports on the Integrity Initiative project.

On Friday, international hacktivist group Anonymous released documents related to the United Kingdom's Integrity Initiative project and said that the program had been launched in 2015 and was funded by the UK government. The hacktivist group claimed that the program was a "large-scale information secret service" created by London to "counteract Russian propaganda."

"The Western policy of active information counteraction against Russia and Russian media, and of active meddling into the sovereign states' affairs, largely undermines the potential success of a Russian-Western constructive dialogue, while it also hinders the search of mutually acceptable solutions to pressing issues," Andrey Klishas, the chairman of the Russian upper house's Committee for Constitutional Legislation and State Building, said.

According to Klishas, the Integrity Initiative is another attempt by the UK government to escalate tensions between Russia and the West via manipulating public opinion.

The documents, published by Anonymous, showed that the Integrity Initiative's costs for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2019, were estimated at 1.96 million Pounds ($2.51 million).

Notably, the list of participants of the Integrity Initiative's projects includes notorious financier William Browder and Vladimir Ashurkov, an associate of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, according to the released documents.

Anonymous claimed that the Integrity Initiative included covert structures to interfere in domestic affairs of France, Germany, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Norway, Serbia, Spain, and Montenegro.
