Hostilities In DPR Left 3 People Killed, 5 Injured Over Past Week - Spokesperson

DONETSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd November, 2018) Three people were killed and five injured in hostilities in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) over the past week, a spokesperson for the DPR ombudsman's office told reporters on Friday.

"On November 16-22 five people were injured as a result of military aggression by Ukraine on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, including three DPR soldiers and two civilians ... Three servicemen were killed," the spokesperson said.

As many as 4,719 people, including 614 women and 81 children, were killed in the DPR since the beginning of the armed conflict in 2014, according to the breakaway republic's authorities.

The conflict in Donbas broke out in 2014, when Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics that refused to recognize the new government in Kiev, which came to power after what they considered to be a coup.

In February 2015, the warring parties signed the Minsk peace accords to end the hostilities in the region, but the situation has remained tense, with both parties accusing each other of ceasefire violations.
