Chevron Announces Big Foot Deepwater Project Started Oil, Gas Production In Gulf Of Mexico

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd November, 2018) Chevron's Big Foot deepwater project in the Gulf of Mexico has started oil and natural gas production, the company said in a press release on Wednesday.

"Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) today announced that the Chevron-operated Big Foot deepwater project, located in the US Gulf of Mexico, has started crude oil and natural gas production," the release said.

The Big Foot field is located some 225 miles south of New Orleans at a water depth of about 5,200 feet is estimated to contain more than 200 million oil-equivalent barrels that is projected to last 35 years, the release said.

The oil platform is designed to produce 75,000 barrels of oil and 25 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, the release said.

Chevron President of North America Exploration and Production Jeff Shellebarger said in the release that the project demonstrates that the Gulf of Mexico is an integral part of their diverse global portfolio and long-term strategy.

The project also helps advance the Chevron's interest to provide reliable and affordable energy to meet a growing global demand, Shellebarger added.
