MEXICO CITY (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd November, 2018) Mexico's next energy minister Rocio Nahle plans to pause for two years auctions for oil and gas exploration and production, according to a local publication.
In an interview with El Sol de Mexico, the designated minister said the next government would review the 107 oil contracts awarded by the outgoing authorities.
A project to build an oil refinery in Dos Bocas in the state of Tabasco will be put out to tender among a select group of companies with international experience, she added.
This comes after President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who takes office in December, said the country could suspend hydrocarbon bid rounds indefinitely pending the revision of earlier contracts.
