Ghana Interested In Russia's Participation In Railroad Development - Ambassador To Moscow

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st November, 2018) The development of railroad sector is crucial for West Africa, and Ghana views work with Russia in this direction as a very interesting opportunity, Ghana's ambassador to Russia said Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Foreign Ministry organized a visit to the Metrowagonmash engineering company outside Moscow for foreign diplomats based in the Russian capital.

"A lot of the trains ... are very innovative. Everything is geared toward passengers comfort and safety. I hope that the next plant to cater for West Africa will be in Ghana because it is a very, very much needed transport system for most of Africa and many parts of the world," Lesley Akyaa Opoku Ware told reporters.

According to the senior diplomat, Ghana's Minister of Railways Development Joe Ghartey will pay a visit to Moscow on November 26, "which shows that there is a big interest and an opportunity here."

In April, during the ceremony where 17 new ambassadors, including one from Ghana, presented their credentials, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was looking into the possibility of delivering aircraft, helicopters, and cars to the West African nation, as well as bilateral cooperation in the nuclear and oil industries.
