According to media reports at least 40 people died and several others were injured after an explosion hit a bus in the southwestern Zimbabwean province of Matabeleland South, setting the vehicle on fire.
"The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Zimbabwe expresses its condolences on the occasion of the traffic accident in which more than 40 people have died when a bus caught fire near Gwanda on November, 16. We send our heartfelt condolences to the Zimbabwean Government and to the families of those who perished in the flames and wish the speedy recovery to injured," the diplomatic mission said on Twitter.
The accident came just over a week after a two-bus collision in the northeast of the country that claimed the lives of nearly 50 people.
