South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Lindiwe Sisulu will visit Moscow on November 20-22 and hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th November, 2018) South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Lindiwe Sisulu will visit Moscow on November 20-22 and hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday.

"The minister of international relations and cooperation of the Republic of South Africa will visit Moscow on November 20-22. She plans to take part in the 15th meeting of the Russian-South African Intergovernmental Mixed Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation as its co-chair. A meeting of the Russian foreign minister with his South African counterpart is scheduled for November 21," Zakharova said.

The two foreign ministers will discuss the state and prospects of bilateral strategic partnership with a focus on increasing cooperation in investments, science, technology, humanitarian issues and other areas, the Russian ministry's spokeswoman added.

Zakharova noted that the ministers were also going to compare notes on topical issues of the international agenda, taking into account the results of the BRICS summit and the election of South Africa as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

In July, the BRICS summit was held in Johannesburg. During the meeting, the countries' leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Brazilian President Michel Temer and host of that anniversary summit, South African leader Cyril Ramaphosa, signed the Johannesburg Declaration summarizing the 10 years of the organization's work.

South Africa, as well as Belgium, Germany, the Dominican Republic and Indonesia, were elected to the UN Security Council as non-permanent members for 2019-2020.
