Over 1.3Mln People Voted in November 11 Elections in DPR - Central Election Commission

Over 1.3 million people cast ballots in the recent elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), head of the DPR Central Election Commission Olga Pozdnyakova said on Wednesday.

DONETSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) Over 1.3 million people cast ballots in the recent elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), head of the DPR Central Election Commission Olga Pozdnyakova said on Wednesday.

The DPR election commission officially confirmed earlier in the day that Denis Pushilin was elected head of the DPR, and that his Donetsk Republic movement won 74 seats in the 100-seat DPR parliament.

"The total number of people allowed to vote [in DPR] is 1.6 million. As many as 1.3 of them came to the polling stations," Pozdnyakova said.

On Sunday, the DPR and the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic held leaders' and parliamentary elections.

Kiev as well as the European Union and the United States denounced the elections as undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, while the Kremlin said the vote did not contradict the Minsk peace agreements.
