CSTO Concerned Over Attempts by Terrorists to Control Afghanistan's North - Declaration

Members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are concerned about the growth of illicit drug production in Afghanistan and the attempts by terrorists to gain a foothold in the north of the country, according to the CSTO summit declaration posted on the Kremlin's website on Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th November, 2018) Members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are concerned about the growth of illicit drug production in Afghanistan and the attempts by terrorists to gain a foothold in the north of the country, according to the CSTO summit declaration posted on the Kremlin's website on Thursday.

CSTO leaders held a meeting of CSTO Council in the Kazakh capital of Astana earlier in the day.

"We, members of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, express our concern about the aggravation of the situation and the continuing growth of narcotics production in Afghanistan, as well as about attempts by terrorist groups to gain a foothold in the northern provinces of the country," the declaration says.
