A court in Nigeria on Wednesday denied bail to a leader of a minority Shiite group, held in custody for three years on homicide charges, local media said.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th November, 2018) A court in Nigeria on Wednesday denied bail to a leader of a minority Shiite group, held in custody for three years on homicide charges, local media said.

The judge at the high court of the Kaduna state said there was not enough evidence to support claims that Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife were in poor health, the Channels tv said.

The two will stay in custody until the next hearing on January 22, 2019. They were detained in December 2015 and first arraigned last May.

Zakzaky, who leads the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), stands accused of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace.
