BERLIN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th October, 2018) Angela Merkel will continue to fulfill her duties as German chancellor until the end of her term in 2021, the German cabinet's spokesman Steffen Seibert said on Monday.
Earlier in the day, media reported that Merkel had already informed senior figures within the ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party that she was not seeking reelection as chair of the party at its conference in early December.
"Before the last elections to the Bundestag, the chancellor stated that she intended to work during the entire legislative period, she has repeated it many times in public. That is all I can tell you about this," Seibert told a briefing.
