Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently paid an unpublicized visit to Oman even though the countries have no diplomatic ties, the prime minister's office said on Friday.

TEL AVIV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th October, 2018) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently paid an unpublicized visit to Oman even though the countries have no diplomatic ties, the prime minister's office said on Friday.

"PM Netanyahu returned from an official diplomatic visit to Oman where he met with Sultan Qaboos bin Said. This visit is a significant step in implementing the policy outlined by PM Netanyahu on deepening relations with the states of the region while leveraging Israel's advantages," his office wrote on Twitter.

The sides have mainly discussed peaceful settlement of the middle Eastern conflicts, according to the statement.

"PM Netanyahu and his wife were invited to visit by Oman's ruler, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, after lengthy contacts between the two countries," the office added.

Netanyahu's visit to Oman has been the first high-level meeting between the countries since 1996, according to the press service.
