Sayoc of Aventura, Florida is a white male in his 50s who had previous arrests for terrorist threats, Fox news reported citing law enforcement sources.
Several of the packages containing pipe bombs were processed at a US Postal Service facility in Florida's city of Opa-locka, which is located less than 10 miles away from Aventura, according to the media report.
At least 12 packages have been sent over the past few days to former President Barack Obama, former Vice President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and others.
Earlier on Friday, US authorities intercepted suspicious parcels sent to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Senator Cory Booker.
