The New York offices of US cable news channel CNN have been evacuated on Wednesday morning after a suspicious device was discovered in the building's mail room shortly after the Secret Service confirmed that similar devices were sent to former US President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th October, 2018) The New York offices of US cable news channel CNN have been evacuated on Wednesday morning after a suspicious device was discovered in the building's mail room shortly after the Secret Service confirmed that similar devices were sent to former US President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
CNN reported that the New York Police Department (NYPD) is responding to a suspicious device discovered at the Time Warner Center in New York, where the news channel is located, and evacuated the offices as a precaution.
The NYPD later confirmed that it is investigating a suspicious package at Columbus Circle and has advised people to avoid the area.
The suspicious device found at the building was constructed with a pipe and wires and law enforcement authorities are treating the device as real explosive, the report said.
The device found at the CNN offices in New York is the fifth potential explosive device discovered over the past 48 hours. In addition to the suspicious devices sent to Obama and Clinton, a similar device was found at the home of billionaire George Soros and intercepted on its way to the White House.
