London 'Protecting' Khashoggi Case Suspects From Arrest in UK by Entry Denial - WikiLeaks

The UK authorities' decision to deny entry to the suspects in the alleged murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi has an effect of "protecting" them against arrest in the United Kingdom, WikiLeaks whistleblowing organization said Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th October, 2018) The UK authorities' decision to deny entry to the suspects in the alleged murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi has an effect of "protecting" them against arrest in the United Kingdom, WikiLeaks whistleblowing organization said Wednesday.

UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid said earlier in the day that the UK government would be taking action to prevent suspects from entering the United Kingdom. UK Prime Minister Theresa May said that if any of these individuals had UK visas, those visas would be revoked.

"In response to the murder of Washington Post columnist #JamalKhashoggi the UK says it will not give the alleged assassins visas to enter the UK. This has the effect of protecting them from arrest in the UK which would be diplomatically embarrassing as in the Pinochet case," the organization said on Twitter.

The journalist was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2. Following more than two weeks of denials, Saudi Arabia admitted on Friday that the journalist had been killed in a brawl inside the consulate. According to Riyadh, 18 people have been arrested over their involvement in the incident. Turkey is conducting a separate investigation into the journalist's death.
