Turkish Authorities Showed Evidence in Khashoggi Murder Case to CIA Director - Reports

ANKARA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th October, 2018) During the visit to Turkey, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Gina Haspel had the opportunity to review evidence gathered in the course of the investigation into the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the Daily Sabah reported on Wednesday citing sources close to investigators.

The CIA director, who arrived in Ankara on Tuesday, held a meeting with senior officials at Turkey's National Intelligence Organization, where she was shown audio and video recordings, as well as other evidence collected during searches of the buildings of the Saudi diplomatic mission in Istanbul and the residence of the consul general, according to the newspaper.

Khashoggi, known for his criticism of Saudi policies, had been working as a columnist for The Washington Post. The journalist was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2. Saudi Arabia admitted on Friday via state television that the journalist had been killed in a fight inside the consulate. Riyadh has arrested 18 people over their involvement in the incident, while at least five Saudi officials have been dismissed as the Khashoggi case was gaining momentum.
