 Egyptian President to Visit Russia This Week - Kremlin

The official visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi to Russia will take place this week, with meetings scheduled in Moscow and Sochi, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.

Last week, the Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin would receive Sisi in Sochi on October 17 to discuss a further boost in bilateral cooperation.

"This week will be eventful. We will have a series of events related to the official visit of the Egyptian president, Sisi, to Russia. The contacts will take place in Sochi starting tomorrow. One part of tomorrow's meetings will be held in Moscow and the other one in Sochi. Then, later in the week, a session of the Valdai Discussion Club will be held. It is a traditionally very interesting and informative event," Peskov told reporters.

According to the spokesman, Putin will hold an informal meeting with Sisi on Tuesday in Sochi and the full-fledged discussion of the two leaders is scheduled for Wednesday.

The Egyptian news agency, MENA, said on Monday that, apart from meeting Putin, Sisi would also hold talks with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and other senior Russian officials to discuss further development of the two states' economic ties.

The Egyptian president's visit to Russia will last for three days, the media added.

The 15th Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club Valdai Discussion Club, established in 2004 to promote political dialogue and strengthen peaceful conflict resolution, has started on Monday and will last through Thursday.
