MEXICO CITY (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th October, 2018) Five Venezuelans are feared dead after they were swept away Friday by a river on the border with Colombia in the Tachira state, local civil defense said.

Only three bodies have been pulled from the water, authorities told El Nacional newspaper. Franklin Duarte, a member of parliament for the district, said two people were guides.

The United Nations estimated that 2.3 million Venezuelans were living abroad as of last June. Most of them sought refuge in neighboring countries, with thousands arriving daily. The exodus is driven by years of economic decline.
