WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th October, 2018) US service members have spent the last few weeks in Macedonia training their counterparts on best practices in cyber security and cyber defense, US European Command (EUCOM) said in a press release on Friday.
"US service members, working alongside cyber defenders from the Republic of Macedonia, have been cooperating over the last few weeks to share best practices in cyber security and to build cyber defense capabilities," the release said.
The goal of the Cyber Defense Security Cooperation is to increase interoperability and deter "malign influence" on the democratic institutions of the United States, its allies and partners, the release said.
"This is part of an ongoing effort to support NATO allies and European partners by building their cyber defense capabilities while learning from one another," a spokesperson for US Cyber Command is quoted as saying in the release.
The exercise is in line with the Cyber Strategy recently announced by the Defense Department that includes working with allies and partners to grow shared capabilities, expand operations and increase information sharing.
