MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th October, 2018) Russia is ready to cooperate with the new Slovenian government for the sake of further strengthening of ties, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

On September 13, the Slovenian parliament voted in favor of Prime Minister Marjan Sarec's center-left government.

"Slovenia is our partner, and we have established multifaceted cooperation. We are ready to work with the new Slovenian government, which was formed in September, on further cooperation enhancement," Putin said at the ceremony of the foreign ambassadors' letters of credence presentation.

He added that Russia was grateful to Slovenia for "taking care of the graves of our soldiers who fell on the territory of Slovenia during the First and Second World Wars."

There are 56 burial sites of the Soviet warriors who fell during World War II in Slovenia. In late July 2016, the first ever joint monument to Russian and Soviet warriors was opened in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.
