Powerful Magnitude 7.0 Earthquake Strikes Northeast Of Papua New Guinea - USGS

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th October, 2018) A large 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the northeastern New Britain island of Papua New Guinea, the data of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) showed.

The agency said it registered the quake 124 kilometers (77 miles) to the east of the city of Kimbe, located in the north of the island, at 20:48 GMT on Wednesday. The epicenter was located at the depth of 39.5 kilometers.

There have been no reports about casualties or damage caused by the quake.
