Russian Troops Had About 4,000 Drills in Combat-Like Conditions Since December - Shoigu

Russian Armed Forces have held about 4,000 drills in combat-like conditions since December 1, 2017, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th October, 2018) Russian Armed Forces have held about 4,000 drills in combat-like conditions since December 1, 2017, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday.

"Since December 1, 2017, a total of 1.832 tactical military exercises in the conditions as close to combat situations as possible, have been held in Southern, Central and Eastern military districts. The total in all of the Armed Forces is about 4,000 events," Shoigu said.

The defense minister added that the armed forces were being trained "in close cooperation with the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization [CSTO] and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation [SCO]."

Shoigu cited the antiterrorism drills of the SCO states' troops in Chelyabinsk Region in August and the ongoing CSTO drills Boyevoe Bratstvo-2018 (Combat Brotherhood).
