The Mexican Office for National Defense (SEDENA) announced on Monday an emergency plan in the Quintana Roo state, where world famous resort city of Cancun is located, as tropical storm Michael is approaching the coast.

"The personnel of the 34th military zone is included in implementation of DN-III-E plan in the disaster prevention phase," the statement said.
According to the latest meteorological data, storm Michael is now 125 miles away off the Cancun coast, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers (74 miles) per hour and gusts up to 150 kilometers per hour.
The authorities of Quintana Roo also ordered on Monday to cancel all classes in schools in several municipalities.
